Music on Monday: Star Star

Long before Glen Hansard got international fame as the goo-goo-ga-ga cute in that awkward with an accent way in ‘Once’ and subsequently formed the group Swell Season, he was writing and performing songs with the Frames. And back then Dave introduced me to this little ditty.

Please promise me you will listen to this at a volume MUCH louder than you think is necessary.

The song is easy. Simple lyrics. Beautiful music. I won’t bother to try and analyze such a lovely thing that you can simply listen to yourself and feel.

Star, star teach me how to shine, shine, teach me so I know what’s going on in your mind…

  1. Ah, one of the best songs ever written. There is a live version out there where, in the middle of the song, they transition into “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonky. Sounds weird (because WW is weird), but it’s actually gorgeous. We debated having this song as our first dance. I approve. 😉

    1. SUCH a good point Liz! That version is on our iPod and we love that part of it! I think it would be an awesome first dance song, glad it was a candidate!

  2. Love The Frames! Been a fan for a while – excellent choice for Monday. I highly recommend you take a listen to Ben Howard. His debut album Every Kingdom is a cracker. The Wolves is the star track on it – part Jose Gonzalez, part Mumford & Sons. (Thank me later).
